I’m gonna start a new aesthetic, it’s called “badpunk”. It’s an alternate retro sci-fi look except all the technology is terrible and looks bad. Somebody add pictures, I need examples.

why is it not more wellknown that women can have an actual literal disorder that not rarely makes them literally suicidal for up to 10 days every month before their period lmao like… teach this in class? it’s not a joke?

Wait what??

here here here (there’s more sites saying the same thing)

it’s called PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) and it’s basically PMS but make it Super Hardcore, it’s a hormonal disorder and to my knowledge they’re not exactly sure what causes it - there’s theories tho - but there seems to be little research on it anyway. As I said it’s similar to PMS in terms of symptoms [mood swings, lethargy, cramps, changed sleeping pattern, libido, appetite] but the symptoms get so severe that they are interfering with your daily life and impacting it negatively. Especially in terms of psychological symptoms, while it doesn’t go that far for everyone who has it and also not every month, a lot of the people who experience it are sent into a severe depressive episode beause of it and it’s really not rare at all for them to experience legitimate suicidal thoughts that go away the second they get their period (or up to two days in from what I’ve read).

I’ve read different claims on how many people it affects, some sources say 5%, others 8%, others say 2% so I don’t know about that, but menstruating people need to know this lmao. Not knowing that your suicidality is caused by a literal physical disorder that you have can be so dangerous, especially when you already struggle with such issues anyway or are trying to recover from mental illness and don’t realize that your “relapses” are symptoms of an actual disorder.

also I originally said women but of course this applies to menstruating trans men and nb folks too.

I’ll reblog this every time I see it because YUP

I definitely feel like this my depression gets so bad when my period comes

god the bush fire situation is so fucking devastating as an indigenous person because not only is my home being fucking ravaged by fires and has been for months, but people only seem to care about the animals.

and don’t get me wrong, care about the animals! i care about the animals! they’re MY native animals, they’re part of my culture and home and they’re living breathing creatures.

but there’s so so so many things in place already to help animals, shelters and charities and sanctuaries, and by all means help them more, but the government does not care about aboriginal australians. shit, scomo doesn’t give a flying fuck about anyone who isn’t a white cishet able bodied christian.

aboriginal australians are losing our homes, you say people aren’t endangered but WE ARE. we make up a tiny percentage of our country, and a vast majority of us live in poverty and unsafe areas. not only are we losing our homes, we’re losing our identity, our lives, our families. this land means more to us than it ever will to people crying over the koalas. the koalas mean more to us than they ever will to you.

remember who lived alongside those animals for thousands of years.

there’s a million things i could say about why we need help more than the animals, but in the end white people will care more about what’s small and fluffy than people of colour, especially people whose land they’re living on, right?

(id: a picture of the sky clouded with smoke from the bushfires, the top half is black and the bottom half is red and orange, with the sun in the middle. it looks very similar to the aboriginal australian flag, and was taken minutes after sunrise on january 1st.)

Idk how to articulate this but the way popular lit bloggers talk about womanhood on here, as if it were the apotheosis of suffering, as if this suffering was limited to the transparently white cisgender middle class womanhood they experience rather than being a broadly human experience most people have to deal with, is disturbing. This is incredibly obvious when their quotes about the trauma of womanhood are plucked directly from second wave feminists and even more so when they themselves are revealed to be antisemitic, or transmisogynist, or racist, as they are seemingly every few months. Like this focus on the pain they discursively construct functions to disappear specific forms of trauma caused by racism, transmisogyny, etc, and so hide how privileged women contribute to this trauma. This “womanhood defined by trauma” meme is just another iteration of white female fragility that maintains white supremacy

Things like abuse/sexual assault, eating disorders, having a complex relationship with your parents, and feeling/being surveilled are literally just universal experiences, which isn’t to say everyone experiences them but anyone can experience them, they’re not limited to any one group. Taking these universal experiences and saying “this is something only we understand” is not only discursively perpetuating a notion of privileged white women’s fragility but also has the potential to alienate other people who share these experiences. The “only (cis) women feel alienated from their gender/agab” trend is a good example (unfortunately I don’t have the post talking about that handy)

What.. is this the right screenshot? I absolutely cannot work out who or what this is even referring to let alone what it has to do with this post?
